M-THEORY
M theory is a theoretical framework in physics that attempts to unify all of the different versions of string theory into a single, coherent theory.
It was first proposed by theoretical physicist Edward Witten. It is sometimes referred to as "the mother of all theories" because it is believed to encompass all of the other known theories of physics, including quantum mechanics and general relativity.
Key feature of M theory is the notion of "branes." They are essentially higher-dimensional analogues of strings, and can be thought of as surfaces that exist in a higher-dimensions. The universe is thought to be composed of branes of which interact with one other in complex ways.
One of the implications of M theory is the existence of extra dimensions beyond the four dimensions of space and time that we experience in our everyday lives. These extra dimensions are thought to be "curled up" or compactified, so that they are too small for us to observe.
M theory is a very complex and mathematical theory, and many of its predictions are still largely speculative. However, it is one of the most promising candidates for a theory of everything, which would provide a unified description of all of the fundamental forces and particles.
